Euro Trip: Florence, Italy

Welcome back to the Travel Series with A Deeper Joy!!!  Today we're continuing with my trip to Europe as a college student 10 years ago.  You can read about Rome HERE.  Next on our trip was Florence, Italy!

We took a bus across the country which was entertaining.  Imagine 30 crazy college students all on one bus!

I really can't remember in what order we did things.  But here were the highlights:

Targetti was really cool!  It was basically a display of art pieces using light.  You'll see photos of some of the artwork.  It was outside of Florence and I think the drive out there was my favorite part!  The countryside was beautiful!

The countryside...

 The bronze David

Haha!  In a museum and we thought it was funny

Italian guy in the middle (tour guide? random Italian?  I'm not really sure!)

This might have been one of the best nights in Europe!  Most of our group went to a karaoke bar in town and we met a bunch of locals and foreigners (like us)!

Beer mugs are LARGE in Europe!

Quick story about me and Kelley - we were one of three Kelly/ey/i/ie's on this trip.  On the bus one day, I think I asked Kelley if she was called Kell-Bell growing up like I was and a guy sitting behind us overheard our conversation and chimed in, "Cowbell??  Why would someone call you Cowbell??"  We got a good laugh out of it!  To this day, Kelley and I call each other Cowbell and it has nothing to do with the SNL skit.

We stopped by a Ferrari museum in Maranello, Italy which was pretty awesome!

That wraps up Florence!!  Thanks for joining me!

  1. I literally have pictures in all the same places!! I was so young though (18) when I went so I'd love to go back now! Great post!

  2. Eeeek! This makes me miss my travels SO much! I was more of a Rome person, but Florence was pretty cool too! Looks like you had a blast!

  3. I LOVE the countryside pics, and what a fun night out. That beer mug is the size of your face haha, love it.

  4. Did you guys watch the sunset from the hill overlooking Florence (I see you got photos up there)? About 5 or 6 of us grabbed some beers from a little convenience store, hiked to the little piazza up there and watched the sun set. It was awesome. There was a fire in the distance somewhere and it made for a beautiful sky.
And I have a feeling we probably went to the same karaoke bar too. :)

  5. Such a fun post, Cowbell! ;) lol! Thanks for "taking us along" through this series!! Love it!! (:

  6. I'm LOVING these blog posts Cowbell!! You have made so many photos digital! My camera at the time was still film!!! That one picture of us on the ponte veccio is so cool to see again because my (now) husband and I have one standing in that exact same spot! Too neat!

    1. Yay! I'm glad :) Haha that's awesome! I think maybe my camera was digital on that trip? It may have been the first one that I ever purchased. Does that make us old, Cowbell?!
